Any eligible college student may apply for the summer program. Local students from Brescia, KWC, OCTC and WKU in Owensboro have first priority to submit their application but the program is now screening all students as applications are submitted. No more than twenty-four students can be accommodated. Owensboro's summer study program builds on the Owensboro - Olomouc Sister Cities and Regions relationship and annually fills with students from institutions of higher education throughout the state. Summer Study Program students will travel to Central European historical and cultural significant sites reflecting their studies. Students and their professors visit and/or have overnight stays in Prague, Czech Republic; Vienna, Austria; Auschwitz and Krakow in Poland; Bratislava, Slovakia and Budapest, Hungary. Participants are offered an outstanding opportunity to learn about the Czech culture from counterparts in Owensboro's Sister City. Interested students will need to have applications submitted and post a $200.00 non-refundable deposit to secure their reservation (first come, first served). Applications and further information can be found on the Owensboro Sister Cities website: www.octc.kctcs.edu/sistercities (click on the 2009 Study Program button). Individuals should have or be applying for a valid U.S. Passport. The total cost of the travel will be $3875.00. This amount will cover all air and ground transportation, entrance fees, guides, lodging and meals for the 34 day program in Central Europe. The final monthly payment will be due by April 15, 2009. Additionally, to earn required academic transferable credit, arrangements must be made with OCTC, conforming to their academic deadlines as to enrollment and tuition payment.
