Highlights of the KCTCS/Cisco Systems Inc. partnership
. The Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) has entered
into an agreement
with Cisco Systems Inc. to establish Cisco Networking Academies across
the Commonwealth to train
Kentuckians to design and manage computer networks.
. KCTCS provides quality education and training through 28 colleges
with 50 campuses. KCTCS
offers for-credit programs in academic and technical fields; baccalaureate
transfer education;
customized training for business and industry; and continuing education.
. Cisco, one of the most valuable companies in the world, is the leading
manufacturer and distributor of computer network equipment. The Cisco curriculum offers state-of-the-art,
web-based training in
computer networks.
. The Cisco Networking Academy Program is a complete, four-semester
program on the principles and
practice of designing, building and maintaining networks capable of
supporting national and global
organizations. The program is localized to meet needs of high schools
and two-year colleges, and
features hands-on, project-driven training in high-demand job skills.
. The first four semesters of the program includes instruction in TCP/IP,
Ethernet, routed and switched
networks, and standard local area network technologies. Graduates of
the first four semesters are
eligible to take an exam to earn Cisco Certified Network Associate certification.
Graduates have the design, implementation and troubleshooting skills to manage approximately
70 percent of the
computer networks in the world.
